Servings: 4
Course: Side Dish
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh okra (washed and dried)
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Equipment

  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Air Fryer (I used a Gourmia 8 quart air fryer)

Method

  1. Using a sharp knife, cut both ends of the okra and set them aside. Next, slice your okra into ½-inch rounds.
  2. Place the okra pieces in a large bowl. Add olive oil, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, paprika, salt, and pepper, and give them a good stir using a slotted spoon.
  3. Place the seasoned sliced okra in a single layer in an air-fryer basket that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. You may have to cook them in batches.
  4. Cook the okra at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes, or until the okra is golden brown crispy, and tender. Remember to shake the air fryer basket halfway through the cook.
  5. Remove the crispy okra from the air fryer basket and serve it hot with your favorite hot sauce or dipping sauce.

Notes

Fresh okra: (washed and dried): Feel free to use the frozen okra that's usually in the frozen section of the grocery store. We use frozen breaded okra if it happens to be a busy weekday.
Olive oil: Feel free to use avocado oil, canola oil, or your favorite olive oil.
Spices: You can totally spice your okra with store-bought Cajun seasoning, garam masala, dry mango powder, or your favorite seasoning.
Salt and black pepper: We used kosher salt for this recipe but you can use table or sea salt.
