Method
- Drizzle 2-3 tablespoons of caramel sauce over the ice, allowing it to coat the sides of the glass. Fill the glass with 1 cup of ice cubes.
- Brew 2 ounces (60 ml) of espresso (about 2 shots) and let it cool for 1-2 minutes to avoid melting the ice.
- Pour the freshly brewed espresso over the ice, filling the glass halfway.
- Add ¾ cup of milk or adjust to your preferred level of creaminess. Stir gently to combine.
- Top the espresso with a dollop of whipped cream and then drizzle additional caramel sauce over the whipped cream for extra sweetness.
- Optionally, use a long spoon or straw to mix the caramel sauce into the espresso as you enjoy it.
- Enjoy your homemade caramel iced coffee!
Notes
Ice Cubes: Ice cubes are the key to making this drink cold and super refreshing. They also help in diluting the coffee slightly as it melts, making it less intense. You can use crushed ice or ice spheres if that’s what you prefer
Freshly Brewed Espresso: Espresso provides a strong, rich flavor to the coffee flavor. If you don't have an espresso machine, you can use strong brewed coffee, or instant espresso powder dissolved in hot water. Make sure you adjust the amount to match your preferred strength. Heavy cream: Heavy cream makes this drink creamy and also gives it a subtle sweetness. You can use any milk or milk alternative you prefer. Whole milk, skim milk, caramel creamer instead of milk almond milk, soy milk, pea milk, oat milk, or your favorite lactose-free milk can be used instead. Caramel Sauce: Caramel sauce brings sweetness, and caramelly flavor to the drink. It’s beautiful drizzle, makes it pretty to look at. You can make your own caramel sauce or use light caramel sauce, sugar-free, or lower-sugar caramel sauce. Whipped Cream: Whipped cream adds a creamy touch to the drink. You can use whipped coconut cream as a dairy-free alternative or not use cream altogether.
