Easy 4-ingredient guacamole recipe - Fresh, Flavorful & Customizable! Make perfect homemade guacamole in just 10-Minutes!
Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Course: Side Dish

Ingredients

  • 3 Hass avocados, ripe
  • 2 tablespoons red onion, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice, from about 1 lime
  • 1 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • Kosher salt and black pepper, to taste

Method

  1. Halve the avocados lengthwise and remove the pits. Scoop the flesh of the avocado halves into a medium bowl using a spoon.
  2. Finely dice the red onion and chop the cilantro leaves to your preferred length.
  3. Squeeze the fresh lime juice over the avocados and then use a fork, food processor, or potato masher to mash the avocados to your desired consistency. We like to leave ours slightly chunky for texture. Add the diced red onion and chopped cilantro to the mashed avocado and combine.
  4. Season the top of the guacamole with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste and gently stir all the ingredients together until they are well combined. We recommend starting with a pinch of each and adjust according to your preference.
  5. Serve your homemade guacamole immediately with your favorite homemade tortilla chips or as a topping for tacos, burrito bowls, salads, or sandwiches.

Notes

Recipe Ingredients:
Avocados: Ripe avocados provide a creamy texture and rich flavor to this simple 4-ingredient guacamole recipe. To ripen unripe avocados quickly, place them in a brown bag with ripe fruit, seal the bag, and store in a warm spot until they are soft to the touch, typically within 2 to 5 days.
Red Onion: Finely diced red onion adds a sharp and tangy flavor to the guacamole, balancing the richness of the creamy avocado. It also provides a pop of color and texture. If you're not a fan of raw red onion, you can substitute it with white onion, finely diced shallots, or green onions for a milder flavor.
Lime Juice: Fresh lime juice adds acidity to the guacamole, enhancing its flavor and preventing the avocados from browning. You can substitute it with fresh lemon juice for a slightly different citrus flavor or store-bought lemon or lime juice.
Cilantro: Chopped cilantro provides a fresh and herbaceous flavor to the guacamole, elevating its taste and aroma. If you're not a fan of cilantro, you can substitute it with fresh parsley or omit it altogether.
Salt and Pepper: Seasoning with salt and pepper enhances the flavors of all the other ingredients in the guacamole and brings everything together into a harmonious blend. Be sure to adjust the amount of salt and pepper according to your taste preferences.
