Method
- Place the halved Brussels sprouts in a large or medium bowl. Soak them in cold water for about 10 minutes.
- Pat them dry with a paper towel and place the fresh sprouts in a large bowl and drizzle oil over them. Season them with salt, pepper, and garlic powder and toss.
- Lightly brush the air fryer basket with oil and place the Brussels sprouts inside in a single layer, flat side down.
- Cook at 370 degrees for 10 minutes but be sure to carefully turn over the sprouts halfway to ensure that they are evenly cooked. Your sprouts are ready when they turn crispy and golden brown.
- To a separate bowl, add honey, and balsamic vinegar, and then add the crispy sprouts. Gently toss them until they are all evenly coated. Sprinkle parmesan cheese over your crispy brussels sprouts and serve them hot.
Notes
Brussels sprouts: Reduce the cooking time if you like your sprouts al dente. Brussels sprouts are also called mini cabbages even though they aren't actually cabbages.
Olive oil: You can use avocado oil or your favorite vegetable oil. Don't hesitate to use less oil if you like.
Kosher salt: Sea salt and table salt would also work well for this recipe.
Black pepper: Add pepper to taste.
Balsamic vinegar: This is reduced balsamic vinegar. It usually neutralizes the bitterness that sprouts have and makes them more flavorful. Soy sauce or balsamic glaze can be used instead.
Honey: Maple syrup will also work for this recipe.
Parmesan cheese: Feel free to use your favorite cheese. I sometimes use feta cheese. Garlic: 2-3 minced garlic cloves will work for this recipe.
